Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a safe and effective treatment for unwanted hair on the body and face. Patients will typically require 6-8 treatments depending on hair thickness, the area to be treated, and the hair's growth cycle. Immediately following the treatment the area may appear slightly red and swollen and will subside shortly after with minimal to no downtime. Treatments will be 8-10 weeks between sessions to allow the hair to complete a full hair growth cycle. Treatments are most successful when the hair is in the “Active Growth Phase”. As all hairs are in various phases of growth successive treatments spaced apart 8-10 weeks will allow for best results. This targets the hair follicles and cuts off the blood supply to that hair bulb hence not allowing any further growth and closing the pore for that follicle.

Skin Suite Pre-Treatment and Post-Treatment 

It’s important to us that you feel comfortable before, during, and after your treatment. To make sure you receive the best results, before your treatment we will inform you of all pre-treatment and post-treatment care that you should implement prior to visiting us. 

Much like the targeted treatment plan we create based on your skin’s needs, we will work with you to ensure your pre-treatment and post-treatment care aligns with your desired outcome for your skin.

Skin Suite Laser Hair Removal Pre-Treatment

Shave the area to be treated;  the closer the shave the more comfortable the treatment. 

  • Prevent disturbing the hair follicle at least 8-10 weeks prior. Do not pluck, pull, or wax/sugar the area.

  • Hair should be dark in colour as the laser is attracted to pigment and will not detect white, blonde, or red hair.

  • Avoid sun exposure in the area to be treated at least 2 weeks prior to treatment 

Skin Suite Laser Hair Removal Post-Treatment

  • Apply sunscreen to post-treatment and continue every day in the areas exposed to the sun. 

  • No sweating, hot tubs, steam rooms or heat for 24-48 hours post treatment while the pores are open.

  • Wait 8-10 weeks for a follow-up appointment. The previous treatment will determine how often further treatments should occur, but typically patients require anywhere from 4-6 treatments but sometimes a few more.
